It's here! It's here!

I was so excited about receiving my The $5 Dinner Mom cookbook yesterday, I forgot to blog about it! So many treasures and recipes in this book. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to save money AND eat nutritionally. I know I'll have to adapt the recipes a bit (and the cost) since my family is larger and older (meaning they eat as much as an adult because they almost are!), but I know already this is going to be good for my budget!

The journey begins..

OK. My first attempt at stocking my freezer was SMALL, but successful. I cooked three pots of beans-2lb pinto, 1lb red, and 1lb black. I pulled enough out to make Chili and Beans and Rice and packaged and froze the rest in "can" sized portions. After all is said and done it works out to less than 50 cents a can as opposed to around $1 a piece pre-canned from the store.
